Description
Dovo Bismarck Ebony 6/8 Straight Razor
The Dovo Bismarck Ebony 6/8 Straight Razor carries a name that’s stood for the finest straight razor craft from Dovo‘s Solingen workshop since the 20th century. Only Dovo’s most experienced specialists make this piece, each one by hand.
The blade is 1.2210 silver steel — a premium carbon steel hardened to ~61 HRC for a keen, resilient edge — finished with 24k gold ornamentation against a deep black ebony handle. Full hollow ground for flexibility and that satisfying “sing,” with a forgiving round point plus roof-shaped spine and thumbnotch for control.
At a wide 6/8″ it’s a heavyweight built for serious beards, gliding through the thickest hair under its own weight. A razor for the experienced shaver who wants a genuine heirloom.

How to Use
- Strop on a leather strop before you begin.
- Soften the beard with a hot shower, then lather up.
- Hold the razor with the handle pointing away, blade at ~30°.
- Stretch the skin taut and draw down in short strokes, with the grain.
- Re-lather and finish against the grain for a closer result.
- Rinse, dry without touching the edge, and store open to air.
Pro Tip: It’s carbon steel — rinse and dab dry after every shave, and rest it 48 hours between uses so the edge realigns. Storing it a while? Wipe on a little acid-free oil to keep rust away.
